The lighting model is built on the basis of the phong model, which supports three types of light, specular, environmental, diffuse material interactions. The colour of the ambient source represents the interaction of a light source with the surface, while the colour of the specular source is designed to produce the desired colour of a specular light.
The model of lighting is constructed by adding contributions for all sources of light at each point that we wish to illuminate. For each light source, you have to calculate the amount of reflected light for each of the nine terms in the illumination matrix. The contribution can be calculated for each colour source by adding the specular, environmental and diffuse components.
