Single Phase to Three Phase Converter
A Single Phase to Three Phase Converter provides three phase power from a single phase source to power inductive, resistive and capacitive loads. It has many advantages over the presently used converter technology. The converter has a DC power supply, integrated gate drive IC, and a DSP generates the switching signals. Selective harmonic elimination is used for generating the switching signals. A consistenst starting point is generated for the switching signals independent of the number of harmonics that have been eliminated.
For many decades , three phase power was generated from single phase power by the use of static phase converters and phase converting variable frequency drives (VFD). The use of phase converters has been limited by the disadvantages such as inability to operate sensitive equipment or multiple loads, harmonics, voltage and current imbalance etc.
