Abstract

Programmable timer is a microcontroller based machine. It is controlled by a microcontroller PIC16F84 a RISC processor. The presented topic is a programmable timer and time is set by a user through a switch, switching/alarm will be occur after a set time gap. Time can be selected in second and in minutes also according to requirement. Earlier the timer was made through a 555 ICs.

The Microcontroller applications are compact and require very less amount of components. No. of instructions are very few and so easy to construct a program. Other than this we learnt a lot of techniques in assembling of the project. The project is application oriented one. The project finds a number of uses in various fields if think over it. The programmable timer is versatile project. It has lot of facilities like time setting for minutes and seconds, switching and a siren facility.
