Many microcontroller applications require the count of external events such as the construction of precise internal delays between pulse frequency and computer functions. Both of these functions can be implemented with software technology, but the software loops and timings for counting will not be the right result, but more important work has not been done. In order to avoid these problems, timers and counter are better options for easy and low-cost applications in micro-controllers. These timers and counters are used as an interrupt in 8051 microcontrollers.
There are two 16-bit timers and counters in the 8051 microcontroller: timer 0 and timer 1. Both timers are included in the 16-bit register in which the low byte is stored in TL and stored in high byte. The timer can be used in the form of a counter, as well as the timing for the operation depending on the counter at the source of the parties.
