Hi am Vagesh (Btech) i would like to get details on program of alcohol dector using 8051 with mq3 . i am final year student working on my academic project. We are using mq3 sensor with 89s52 controller, we connected digital output of mq3 to po.0 port pin and was checking output at po.1 pin(LED) but could not get output. kindly help me to get the output.

MQ135 is a stable and sensitive gas sensor that can detect ammonia, carbon dioxide, alcohol, smoke, nitrogen dioxide, etc. The sensor consists of a tin dioxide sensitive layer within aluminum oxide microtubes, measuring electrode and a heating element within a tubular aluminum housing. The front end of the sensor is covered with a stainless steel net and the rear end holds the connection terminals.
The ethyl alcohol present in the breath is oxidized in acetic acid as it passes over the heating element. This ethyl alcohol falls on the detection layer of tin dioxide and as a result its resistance decreases. This resistance variation is converted into a suitable voltage variation using an external load resistor. The typical connection arrangement of an MQ135 alcohol sensor is shown below.

MQ135 has different resistance values at different temperatures and different concentrations of gases. The manufacturer recommends calibrating the sensor to 100ppm ammonia or 50ppm alcohol. The recommended value of the load resistor is between 10K and 47K.
