As of now NHPC Limited has become the largest organization for the development of hydroelectric power in India, with capabilities to carry out all activities from the conceptualization to the start-up in relation to the creation of hydroelectric projects. NHPC Limited also plans to carry out wind and tidal energy projects in the country.
NHPC Limited currently has a 6667 MW installation base of 21 hydropower stations per property, including the projects included in Joint Venture. Taking into account the obstacles faced during the execution of these projects, such as unfavourable geological conditions, difficult problems of public order, inaccessible and remote places, the achievement so far is commendable. The generation performance of these stations has been outstanding.
NHPC Limited is currently participating in the construction of 3 projects that will be added to a total installed capacity of 3130 MW. Given the renewed momentum in the development of hydropower in the country, NHPC Limited has drawn up an ambitious plan to add approximately 6,000 MW of hydroelectric capacity by the end of the year 2022.
