Power steering

In cars, power steering (also assisted steering (PAS) or steering assist system) helps drivers to steer by increasing the steering effort of the steering wheel.
Hydraulic or electric actuators add controlled energy to the steering mechanism, so the driver can provide less effort to rotate the steering wheels when driving at typical speeds and greatly reduce the physical effort required to rotate the wheels when the vehicle is stationary or It moves slowly. The power steering can also be designed to provide some artificial feedback of the forces acting on the steering wheels.

Hydraulic power steering systems for automobiles increase steering effort through an actuator, a hydraulic cylinder that is part of a servo system. These systems have a direct mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steering wheel joint. This means that failure of the power steering system (to increase the effort) still allows the vehicle to be driven using manual effort alone. Electric power steering systems use electric motors to provide assistance in place of hydraulic systems. As with hydraulic types, the power of the actuator (motor, in this case) is controlled by the rest of the power steering system.

Other power steering systems (such as larger off-road vehicles) do not have a direct mechanical connection to the steering system; They require electrical energy. Systems of this type, without mechanical connection, are sometimes referred to as "unit by cable" or "direction by cable", by analogy with aviation fly-by-wire. In this context, "wire" refers to electrical cables that carry energy and data, not mechanical wire cables of fine wire wire. Some construction vehicles have a two-part frame with a rough hinge in the middle; This hinge allows the front and rear axles to become non-parallel to drive the vehicle. The opposing hydraulic cylinders move the halves of the frame relative to each other to direct.
