Guidelines for the preparation of the synopsis for the Ph.D. thesis
1. The length of a synopsis for Ph.D. The thesis should normally be 1000 to 4000 words, including tables and figures. The synopsis should be on A4 paper. Four copies of the synopsis are required.
2. At present, there is a wide variation in the theme and presentation style of the synopsis. The main objective of the synopsis is to allow the reader to judge if there is a prima facie presumption to accept the proposed doctorate. thesis for the Ph.D. degree. The synopsis should, therefore, clearly list the contributions resulting from the research carried out by the candidate, which have led to the advancement of knowledge in the field of research.
3. In order to bring the candidate's contribution fully into line, it must be placed in an appropriate context. It is therefore recommended that the synopsis contain a brief overview of existing knowledge and the insufficiency or gap in this knowledge that led the candidate to formulate the problem of his research. Some references, necessary in this regard, should be included, but their number should normally not exceed ten.
