Description
Many engineering graduate students are opted Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is given first priority entrance test for getting admission into Post Graduate (PG) engineering study. The second preference is given to Post-Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET). This is the test enables for admission into ME /M. Pharmacy / M.Archy / Phar.D. in AP State universities and their affiliated colleges. The qualified or the rank holders in this test are eligible to join in any of the 25 thousand seats in 300 colleges. Osmania University on behalf of AP State higher education council issued notification for the year 2013-14. Osmania University will conduct this entrance test for the year 2013-14 admissions in this State,
In three categories
PGCET will be conduct in three categories as Category-1, Category-2 and Category-3. Category-1 will be treated as conventional courses.
Architecture and planning , Aero-space engineering, Bio-technology, Civil, Computer science and information technology, Electronics and communication engineering, Electrical engineering. Instrumentation engineering, Mechanical, Metallurgy and Pharmacy branches in conventional courses as in category-1.Bio-medical engineering, Environmental management, Geo-engineering and geo-informatics and nano-technology branches are treated as specialized branches put in category-2.
Category-3 courses are treated as inter disciplinary courses. There is no test will be conducted for admissions in to this category.
Mode of test
PGCET will be conducted in objective type. The test will be consisted 120 questions to answer in 120 minutes for 120 marks as each question carries equal mark. The syllabus for this test is as the syllabus for GATE. The given questions will be a little bit less easy than the GATE. 60% questions will be on theory based and 40% questions on formula based are given for this test. Mathematics is common for all branches and less than 15 marks/questions are expected from this subject. The Pharmacy students have to face questions only from Pharmacy subject
