The motor is operated in four quadrants, ie, to the right; Counter-clockwise, front brake and reverse brake. The operation of four quadrants of the DC motor is the most suitable for industries where the motors are used and according to the requirement as it can be turned clockwise, counterclockwise and also Apply the brakes immediately in both directions.
In case of a specific operation in an industrial environment, the motor must be stopped immediately. In this scenario, this proposed system is very suitable since the front brake and the reverse brake are their integral characteristics.
Instantaneous braking in both directions occurs as a result of applying a reverse voltage across the motor running for a short period. 555 used in the project develops pulses required. Pressure buttons are provided for the operation of the motor which are interconnected with the circuit which provides an input signal and, in turn, controls the motor through a driver IC.
Optionally you can get the speed control function (but not provided in this project) using the push button. This project can be improved by the use of higher power electronic devices to operate high capacity DC motors. Regenerative brakes can also be incorporated to optimize energy consumption.
