NTPC Ramagundam a part of the National Thermal Power Corporation.It is a 2600 MW power plant located in Ramagundam in the Peddapalli district of the Indian state of Telangana, India. It is the largest power plant in South India. It is the first "Super thermal power station" certified ISO 14001 in India. The TG Hall or the Turbo-Generator room or the Turbine-Generator Hall is the room or space where the turbine-generator sets are present.
NTPC Ltd., Ramagundam has two TG Halls one for STAGE-I and the other common for STAGE-II and STAGE-III. These TG rooms are equipped with heavy aerial cranes that aid in the transport of material within the TG room. These cranes find their use greatly during revisions.
Once every two years, these units are stopped and reconditioned, one unit at a time. Reviews usually take place during the months of June to September, as monsoons activate hydel power generation that replaces lost power generation due to the unit's overall overhaul. The same practice is followed throughout the country. Reviews usually take 15 to 20 days per unit as long as there is no major repair. Major repairs include the turbine housing, turbine rotor damage, and other damages that require transportation of the equipment to another location (usually the manufacturer). The revisions are the sinks of the annual PLF of any power plant.
