NTPC Ramagundam a part of the National Thermal Energy Corporation, is a 2600 MW power plant located in Ramagundam in the Peddapalli district of the Indian state of Telangana, India. It is the largest power plant in South India. It is the first ISO 14001 certification "Super Power Plant" in India. The TG Room or the Turbo Generator Room or the Turbine-Generator Room is the room or space where the turbine-generator sets are present.
NTPC Ltd. Ramagundam has two TG Halls one for STAGE-I and the other common for STAGE-II and STAGE-III. These TG rooms are equipped with heavy cranes that help in the transport of material inside the TG room. These cranes find their use greatly during revisions. Once in two years, these units stop and review, one unit at a time. Reviews are usually taken during the months of June to September as the monsoons activate hydel power generation which replaces the lost power generation due to unit review. The same practice is followed throughout the country. Reviews usually take 15 to 20 days per unit, as long as major repairs are not made. Major repairs include turbine cover, turbine rotor damage and other damages that require transportation of equipment to another location (usually the manufacturer). Reviews are the annual PLF dissipators of any power plant.
