Repair and Rehabilitation of Structures offers professionals a series of new and traditional strategies to eradicate structural problems and deploy an efficient repair or rehabilitation solution. The success of the repair activity depends on the identification of the root cause of the deterioration of the structures. The book addresses the different aspects of repair, causes of repair, strength and durability of concrete, special concrete, repair techniques and method of protection, structural adjustment, structural health supervision ( SHM) Techniques of demolition and seismic adaptation of structures.
The success of the repair activity depends on the identification of the root cause of the deterioration of the concrete structures. If this cause is properly identified, satisfactory repairs can be made to improve strength and durability, thereby prolonging the life of the structure, not difficult to achieve.
General procedure in repairing the concrete structure in difficulties:
• Properly support structural elements as required.
• Remove all cracked, detached and loose concrete.
• Clean exposed concrete surfaces and steel reinforcement.
• Provide additional reinforcement bars if the reinforcement loss is greater than 10%
• Apply short-concrete concrete for the repair work of patches and grout for porous / alveolar concrete.
• Apply protective coatings to the exposed or repaired surface.
