ABSTRACT:

The main objective of this Portable Notetaker is to develop a cheap, pocket size device, which is allowing the blinds to enter notes via Braille m-touch keypad to access and store words or to output result in audio format via speech synthesizer faster!By the way, the Portable Notetaker is a USB Human Interface Device. So, it’s possible for the user to connect it to a PC and operates like a regular keyboard.

METHODOLOGY:

PIC32: Main 32-bit Microchip microcontroller, controlling all processes and operations in device

USB device: USB PIC32 is to configure as a human interface device (HID) when using in m-touch keypad mode.

SD flash memory: Store audio library file, data, files.

Braille M-touch keypad: This keypad applies capacitive sensing technology.

Temperature sensor: This sensor provides ambient temperature condition

Light sensor: This sensor provides ambient light condition

VoiceBand Codec: Converting analog to digital for microphone input and converting digital to analog audio signal output.

Audio amp: Amplify audio signal that user can hear via speaker without wearing headphone or earphone.

Li-Ion battery charger: controller control charge processes. This circuit uses USB power to charger battery.

LITERATURE SURVEY:

We have studied about the PIC microcontroller. Blind people us Braille dots to read and write. This takes longer time and use larger space. Hence our project aim is to develop low cost, portable note taker device for the blinds.
