WHAT IS NANOTECHNOLOGY?
The “nano” in nanotechnology comes from the Greek word “nanos” that means dwarf.
One nano meter is one-billionth meter that is about 1,00,000 times of human hair.
OBJECTIVE:
The latest technical buzz word in textile too is
NANOTECHNOLGY
The worlds toughest fiber carbon nano is currently being paid more attention due to their unique physical, chemical and mechanical properties obtained by “espin technology”.
NANO TECHNOLOGY IN MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE FIBERS:
Nano-structured composite fibers are in the area where we see the early blooming of nanotechnology
Those composite fibers employ nano particles such as (clay, metal oxides, carbon black),graphite nano tubes, carbon nano tubes
CARBON NANOTUBE
The fiber exhibits twice the stiffness and strengths, and 20 times toughness of steel wire
NANO PARTICLES IN TEXTILE FINISHING:
Nano particles such as metal oxides and ceramics are also used in textile finishing.
There are four types of finishings
• Nano -core
• Nano-pel
• Nano -dry
• Nano- touch
NANOROBOS IN TEXTILES:
While synthesis of defect free in materials will lead to substantial improvements in performance, molecular nanotechnology.will make changes that are more radical by integrating computers ,sensors….
APPLICATIONS:
Wearable solar cell and energy storage.
Sensors and information acquisition and transfer.
Multiple and sophisticated protection and Detection.
self-cleaning and repairing functions.
