Multispectral (MS) fingerprint imaging systems use different wavelengths of light to illuminate the surface and the subsurface layers of the finger skin and capture the reflected light. The resulting fingerprint images and the combination of these images provide more discriminatory and robust information about the characteristics of the fingerprint than those from a TIR based optical fingerprint sensor
