The chatting is the most popular hobby of the internet users. The chatting system can be implemented in many of the technologies like Java, ASP.NET, php etc. The chat system described here using the Java/JavaScript combines the advantages of persistent internet connection using Java applet with easily customizable HTML/CSS interface. PHP/MySQL is used to write the server side script. The main features of the chat system are:
a)Multiple chat rooms
b)User info pages;
c)Private messages
d)socket technology to save bandwidth (java applet)
e)HTML/CSS interface which can be customised to your likes.
f)All the source-codes are provided. The code is provided in the shareware license.
