Moletronics
This is the short form for molecular electronics. he main idea is that the individual
circuits of the computer can be formed from single molecules of substances. The density
of the circuits will be increased by many folds and the circuits will operate much faster
and cooler. Circuits utilising the molecular level chemical processes was made in the
university of california in July 1999. Roxatanes containing a ring of atoms threaded on a
central molecule is used in the technology. If the technology advances, we can dream of
computers that are the size of sand.
Computing with molecules
-Break junctions.
-Electric cut junctions
- SPM, STM
-SAM on curved electrodes.
The molecule made of benzene rings was used as a microtransistor. It was used to switch
an electrical current. The center ring of the transistor has asymmetric fragments which
enables it to be twisted by the electric field. When a soecific electric field is
appplied, the molecule is twisted and the electric current is allowed to flow.
