mirrorlink seminar report pdf
Abstract
Mirror Link is an interoperability standard for devices such as smart phones. It allows for integration between mobile devices and a car’s infotainment and automotive application systems. The applications run on the smart phones while the drivers and passengers interact with them through the automobile’s various inbuilt control systems such as steering wheel controls, dashboard control panels and car infotainment systems. Mirror Link functions through various non-proprietary technologies viz. USB, IP, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RTP and Universal Plug-n-Play. In order to display user interface on a car’s infotainment system and to communicate the input back to the smart phone, Mirror Link uses Virtual Network Computing as baseline protocol.Mirror Link originally started out as a research project by researcher Jorg Brakensiek from Nokia’s Research Center in Palo Auto. At the same time a member of Consumer Electronics for Automotive (CE4A) group saw similar initial results and contacted Nokia. This resulted in collaboration between Nokia and CE4A and resulted in creation of the original Terminal Mode concept. This collaboration between Nokia and CE4A further led to the formation of Car Connectivity Consortium. The Car Connectivity Consortium brought together major players from automotive and mobile device industries. Terminal Mode was rechristened as Mirror Link on 12th September 2011. Mirror Link is now a commercial trademark owned by Car Connectivity Consortium.
Introduction
In mmWave regime, on-off-keying modulation scheme is adapted in the mmWave mirror page link in a handheld device due to its low-power characteristics. This paper presents a 60GHz on-off-keying transceiver suitable for wireless communications solution of an mmWave mirror link. This solution achieves bit-error-rate less than 10-12 for 27-1 PRBS of 5 Gbps over 30 cm, and 10 Gbps over 6cm depending on distance while only consuming a DC power of 66mW. It shows record value of energy efficiency per bit, 6.6 pJ/bit up to date.
