Attachment is standard or special accessories that is attached or connected to one or more components of the milling machine. These devices increase the efficiency of the milling machine. A machine can display the number of operations using different types of attachments. The following standard or column and knee type are various types of attachments used on milling machines

Standard attachment
Such types of attachments have more adaptability and applications in common types of work. They are capable of dealing with different types of jobs and most of these can be suitable for standard milling machines. It is used for the following purposes:
(A) Arbors, Collets, Adapters, etc. to keep cutters
(B) To keep the workpiece in place of a piece of work in a desired place, and to provide additional movements, if necessary; Such as fault, circular table, index head, tail stock, etc.

Special attachment
Special attachments are those which are specially designed and used on a standard milling machine so that it is suitable for the operation of special milling in large scale production of similar items. These attachments mainly include various milling fixtures.
Vertical Milling Attachment
A vertical attachment can convert a horizontal milling machine into a vertical milling machine by making the axis axis horizontally vertical from vertical to specific functions. It has a right angle gearbox, which is connected to the nose of the horizontal milling spindle by bolt it on the face of the column. It can adjust cutters like end mills, face mills, T-slot cutters.
Universal Milling Attachment
It's like a vertical milling attachment, but there is a swiveling adjustment so that its axis can be set to any angle. It is mounted on the pillar and drives from the main spindle of the machine. Spindle speed is faster than 1½ times to 3½ times faster than regular spindle. The advantage of this spindle can be found on any angle found on angular strips; Table methods etc. can be used. Coaler and end mills can be used to complete the operations.
Slotting attachment
Within an attachment, an attachment through an eccentric or crank converts rotary motion of the rope to the reproduction of Ram. It is bolted on the face of the column and machining can also be on an angle for corner surfaces. The length of the stroke can also be adjusted, usually ranging from 2 "-3"
High speed attachment
The attachment has a gearing system which is enclosed within casting, which increases the regular spindle speed 4-6 times. This is to operate the small diameter of the cutter at the speed of efficiently and proper cutting.
Universal spiral milling attachment
Universal spiral attachment for cutting a spiral grooves on a cylindrical work piece can be used in plain milling machine or universal milling machine. An attachment is bolted to the face of the column and its axis head can be rotated in a vertical or horizontal plane. When planted on a plain milling machine, the cutter applied to the cutter can be rotated at the helix angle required to cut the spiral with an angle of more than 45 degrees.
Rack Milling Attachment

Rotary attachments are used on a variety of circular slots or dying jobs on some forms. They are manually operated and take a lead screw for some automated work.
Split the main attachment
This is a special work holding device, which is bolted on machine table. The work can be placed on the chuck placed on the split head spindle or can be supported between a living and dead center. The dead center is planted on a foot stock, as is a torque of the lathe spoken at the machine's table, whose axis of the axis is properly folded with split head spindle.
