Novatel Wireless has never offered an "official" explanation for the origins of the name "MiFi"; it may be short for either "Mobile Wi-Fi"[citation needed], "My Wi-Fi" or simply they were stumped for a name and turned the W on its head.A MiFi device can be connected to a cellular network and provide internet access for up to ten devices.
