Instrumentation is defined as the art and science of measuring and controlling process variables within a production or manufacturing area. Control technology or control systems engineering is the engineering discipline that applies control theory to design systems with desired behaviors. Control engineers are responsible for devices / systems for research, design, development and control, typically in manufacturing plants and plants. The practice uses sensors to measure the output performance of the device being monitored and these measurements can be used to give feedback to input actuators that can make corrections to the desired performance. When a device is designed to operate without the need for human inputs for correction it is called automatic control (such as cruise control to regulate the speed of a car). Of a multidisciplinary nature, the activities of control systems engineering focus on the implementation of control systems derived mainly from the mathematical modeling of systems of a diverse range.
