Working principal of a speedometer and its advantages and disadvantages??

A flexible transmission cable inside a flexible tube attaches a small magnet inside the speedometer to the output shaft of the gearbox.
The magnet rotates with the shaft and its magnetic field attracts a metal drum to turn the speedometer needle against the force of a hair spring. The needle moves around the dial until the retaining force of the hair spring takes it to rest to give a reading of the road speed.
Working
1. When the engine rotates, the drive shaft rotates to rotate the wheels.
2. The speedometer cable, driven by the drive shaft, also rotates.
3. The cable rotates a magnet around the same speed inside the speed glass. The magnet rotates continuously in the same direction (in this case, on the left).
4. The rotating magnet creates stray currents in the speed glass.
5. Foucault's currents cause the speed glass to rotate anti-clockwise, as well as in an attempt to catch up with the magnet. Remember that the magnet and the speed glass do not come together in any way, there is air between them.
6. The hair spring is tightened, restricting the speed cup so it can only turn a little way.
7. As you turn the speed, turn the pointer up, indicating the speed of the car.
