"Manufacturing Technology II" for engineering and technology studies. This book is written to serve the needs of undergraduate students who begin the introductory course in Manufacturing Technology II. This book is designed to meet the revised curriculum requirement prescribed by Anna University effective as of November 2014 for 4th Semester students of Mechanical Engineering from its affiliated universities.

• Unit 1 deals with material removal processes, types of machine tools, metal cutting theory, chip formation, orthogonal metal cutting, cutting tool materials, tool wear, tool life, surface finish , Cutting fluids. In addition to this, there are added problems solved in metal cutting theory and tool life.

• Unit 2 has an in-depth machining of centered lathe with its construction characteristics, cutting tools, lathe operations, cone turning methods, thread cutting methods, special accessories, machining time and power estimation. Also discussed are winch and turret lathes, semiautomatic and automatic lathes.

• Unit 3 deals with the types, construction, work principle and operations to be performed of various machine tools such as the cutter and milling machine. This unit also discusses cutting gear, and the principles of gear generation and gear finishing.

• Abrasive processes in which abrasive wheel are described, specifications and selection, types of grinding process, polishing, polishing, super finishing, polishing and polishing, grinding abrasive blasting. To be performed on the broaching machine are discussed in the second part of this unit.

• Numerical control (CN), CNC, parts programming, manual programming, computer assisted parts programming, micromechanising and wafer machining are discussed in detail in Unit 5.

Important problems and problems solved by Anna University have been added in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, which will allow students to score high on college exams. In addition to this, two branded questions and answers are added at the end of each unit.

Each unit contains two brand questions and answers, review questions. The Anna University Question Papers are added at the end of this book. With these characteristics, we sincerely hope that this book will serve as a valuable text for students.

Although the effects have been taken to ensure the content of the "zero defect", we recognize that mistakes may have inadvertently entered in. We welcome constructive criticism on any specific topic in this book.
