MDBS IN GSM NETWORKS
What is Mobile Data base
• A mobile database is a database that can be connected to by a mobile computingdevice over a mobile network.
• A database is a structured way to organize information. This could be a list of contacts, price information or distance travelled etc...
• MDBS Query is nothing but the called subscriber from originating network check the status, GMSC location etc..of the called party in order to promote the call.
• GMSC location is associated according to the location of the called subscriber. Simultaneously the subscriber is routed to the near by MSC.
• Mobile Directory Number is the called subscriber routing number which is attached with the B number.
Roaming Management System
• As per proposed MDBS Architecture, at the network management layer, the Mobile directory number, gate way would reside, that will manage processing & subscriber provisioning.
• As per proposed architecture, the local MDBS will be co-located with the Edge STP, so that for every call STP can query the MDBS to check the status of called party ,without increasing the number of signaling links.
Functioning of MDBS in GSM
Conclusion
• Mobile data base is the only parameter where the HLR , VLR enquiry can be performed.
• Unless MDBS is active there is no question of call origination or termination.
• Future scope for MDBS is the real time Mobile no portability, and further......
