The blocks of earth or mud are stabilized by various methods, viz. Mechanized stabilization: obtained by mechanical compaction; Stabilization of bitumen: the asphalt / bitumen coating on the soil particles provides additional cohesive strength and reduces the penetration of water into the mass. Cement stabilization: addition of 4-10% cement and compaction improves water resistance and soil mass resistance. Stabilization of lime: 3-9% lime and 10-25% mortar are used for granular / clay soils. The blocks are made manually or with a machine.
