Low Cost Automation is a technology that creates a degree of automation around the existing equipment, tools, methods and people, using mainly standard components available in the market.

Low-cost automation (LCA) involves the introduction of standard equipment, mechanisms and devices to convert manual operations to automatic. The cost of the investment is low, as the term itself implies, and the ROI in terms of improved productivity and better work efficiency is high. In the workshop, participants see LCA as an automation that ensures quality, provides flexibility, increases productivity and reduces costs. At the same time, it is easy to implement and affordable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the main users of LCA. The common areas in the manufacturing process for the LCA application are machining, cold extrusion, grinding, material handling, quality inspection, dimensional accuracy, surface finishing and assembly and packaging. The workshop was opened by Mr. Pansak Kummalue, Consultancy and Training Director of the Productivity Institute of Thailand. In his speech to the participants, he said that supporting industries is important for the economic development of many countries, as they contribute to income generation and foreign exchange earnings. He added that financial and technological factors are the main obstacles to the adoption of full automation by SMEs. As such, LCA provides a way out of this dilemma. In the workshop, the participants considered and discussed the following topics: The different means of automation; The concept and practice of stroke; Problems related to the introduction of stroke; Planning and design for LCA; Cost-benefit analysis of LCA: and LCA implementation process. For the field study, they visited the Thai-German Institute. Among the benefits of using ACV, participants believe it contributes to process improvement, reducing machine downtime, reducing costs, improving product quality, manufacturing more accuracy, putting it on time, improving job security , Reducing manpower requirements and human error. environmental Protection. Key success factors for the implementation of LCA were identified as: leadership leadership, trained and skilled workforce, appropriate product types, availability of required hardware and software, and financial support.
