Underground cables are prone to a wide variety of faults due to underground conditions, wear, rodents, etc. It is also difficult to detect the source of failure and the entire line must be dug to verify the entire line and correct the faults. So, here we propose a cable failure detection on IOT that detects the exact position of failure on Iot that makes the repair very easy. Repairers know exactly which part is faulty and only that area must be excavated to detect the source of the fault. This saves a lot of time, money and effort, and also allows service to underground cables faster. We use the IOT technology that allows the authorities to control and verify faults through the Internet. The system detects faults with the help of a potential divider network placed through the cable. Each time a fault is generated at a point that short-circuits between two lines, a specific voltage is generated according to the combination of the resistor network. This voltage is detected by the microcontroller and updated to the user. The information transmitted to the user is the distance at which that voltage corresponds. The microcontroller retrieves the data from the fault line and is displayed on the LCD screen, it also transfers this data through the Internet to display them online.
