A linear integrated circuit (IC) is an analog solid state device characterized by a theoretically infinite number of possible operating states. It operates on a continuous range of input levels. Linear ICs are used in audio amplifiers, A / D converters (analog-to-digital), averaging amplifiers, differentiators, DC amplifiers, integrators, multivibrators, oscillators, audio filters and sweep generators. Linear ICs are available at most major electronics stores. Some devices contain several amplifiers within a single box.
