Definition
(1) In this Regulation, unless the context otherwise requires,
(A) 'access' means the road to a parcel or building;
(B) 'accessory building' means a building attached to or separate from a building on a plot and containing one or more accessory uses;
© "accessory use" means any use of premises, subordinate to the principal and customary use of the principal use;
(D) "Law" means the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act 1994 (Act 13 of 1994);
(E) 'advertising sign' means any sign, whether free, supported or attached to a building or other structure which advertises an individual, an undertaking, a company, an establishment or a product on Identification purposes;
(F) 'alteration' means a structural change, such as an addition to the surface or height, or the addition of soils / floors or mezzanine within any existing floor height, or existing floor change or roof change to Concrete or -construction of existing walls or construction of concrete beams and columns involving a structural change or construction of interior walls to subdivide existing rooms with the intention of changing the use of the room or rooms that change in the occupancy group of The building under these rules, or the closing of any required means of entry or exit to the building;
(G) 'apartment' means part of a building intended for any type of independent use which includes one or more rooms or enclosed spaces situated on one or more floors or parts thereof in a building intended for residential use and with a Direct exit to a public street, road or motorway or a common area, giving rise to such street, road or road. This word is synonymous with flat housing;
(H) 'appendix' means the appendix to these standards; (I) "approved plan" means the set of drawings and declarations submitted under these rules to obtain a development permit or construction permit duly approved by the Secretary;
(J) "balcony" means a horizontal projection, including a handrail or balustrade serving as a passage or seat;
K) 'basement' means the lower floor of a building situated below or below the ground floor. This word is synonymous with cellar;

(M) 'building' means any structure, whatever its purpose, and of any constructed material and any part thereof, whether for human use or not, including foundations, baseboards, walls, floors, ceilings, chimneys, services Plumbing or projections, part of a building, wells or anything fixed there or any wall enclosing or intended to enclose any ground or space and signs and
Outdoor display structures;
N) "construction line" means a line which is remote from the boundary of the street and up to which the main wall of the building facing the street can legally be extended; No portion of the building may extend beyond this line except as prescribed in these rules; (O) 'constructed area' means the surface covered on any floor, covered by a roof other than the cornice, roof or permitted meteorological shadows;
(P) 'carpet zone' means the usable surface, excluding stairways, elevator shafts, escalators, ducts, toilets and the air-conditioning room and the electric control room; Note: - When calculating the carpet area, to avoid the wall area, 20% of the floor surface will be deducted from the total surface area on each floor.
(Q) Category -I People Panchayat means a Panchayat People notified as Category I People Panchayat by the Government under sub rule (4) of rule 3.
® Category-II Village Panchayat means a village Panchayat notified as Category II Village Panchayat by the Government under sub rule (4) of rule 3.
(S) 'ceiling' means the interior lining of any room; In the absence of such a coating, the roof membrane shall constitute the roof; (T) 'center line of the road' means the line along the center of the whole width of the road;
U) "Head of city planning": the principal planner of the city for the Government of Kerala;
(V) 'chimney' means a vertical axis containing and enveloping one or more smoke ducts;
(W) 'conversion' means the change of one occupation group into another occupation group;
(X) 'corridor' means an exit serving as a corridor which communicates with separate rooms or with different parts of a building or with different buildings;
(Y) 'cover' means the maximum surface area on any building floor, excluding cantilevered open balconies; Does not include spaces covered by, -
