Types of Ration Cards in Karnataka
Antyodaya Ration Cards: This type of ration card is issued to those who do not have stable income, ie the elderly, the unemployed.
Below the Poverty Line - GLP Cards: People who have earned less than Rs. 10,000 per year can get the BPL ration card and are able to receive food and grain at a very cheap cost from the Government.
Above Poverty Line - APL Cards: These categories are not responsible for food grains through government. This type of ration card is used as an identity card.
Documents required for the ration card
You can submit any document as a resident proof along with the application form and passport size photographs of the head of the family,
• Voter ID card
• Driver's license
Passport
• Receipt of LPG
• Rental Agreement
• Excerpt from the electoral register
• Last telephone bill (in the name of the applicant),
• Identity document issued by the Government or the public sector.
How to apply for the ration card
The resident of Karnataka can apply for the ration card with a simple procedure which is discussed below.
• First, visit the official website and download the ration card application form in the prescribed format or get it from the office of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
• Fill out the application form and attach the required documents, proof of residence and photo of passport size attested by the official of the gazette.
• Send the application form to the nearest Ration Office. Your request will be consulted by the officials. If all the filling details are correct, the ration card will be sent to your address.
