Joomla is a free and open source content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets and a web application framework that can also be used independently.
Joomla is written in PHP, uses object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques and software design patterns, stores data in a MySQL database and includes functions such as page cache, RSS feeds, printable page versions, News, search and support for the internationalization of languages. A content management system (CMS) is a system that provides a collection of procedures used to manage the workflow in a collaborative environment. These procedures may be manual or computer based.
