The Aviation Research Center (ARC) is a part of the Research and Analysis Wing (R & AW) of the Cabinet Secretariat (Special Requirements) India. The first head of the ARC was R. N. Kao, the legendary founding head of R & AW. Over the years the ARC has become a major operation and flies a large and varied fleet that until recently included the MIG-25 high-flying Mach 3 capable.
From its humble beginnings, Helio Twin Courier provided by the USAF, ARC boasts of fixed-wing transport aircraft such as the Russian IL-76 and AN-32. It also has General Dynamics Gulfstream III and Global 5000 aircraft. The inventory of helicopters comprises a thousand Mi-17 Russians and a mixture of modified French Cheetahs and Chetaks (Alouette IIIs). The weapon of choice for ARC was MIG-25 (also nicknamed Foxbat by NATO) which was used for high altitude reconnaissance (the aircraft was disarmed in 2006 and is no longer in service). Rumors abound that the second ability of India's strike becomes the ARC. ARC is also believed to be the first wing of India's intelligence agencies to induce the indigenously built "Pilotless Target Aircraft" (PTA) Lakshya. Lakshya is equipped with an advanced support system to help you conduct tactical aerial exploration on the battlefield, including target acquisition. The 1.8 m (6 ft) long Lakshya is equipped with a digitally controlled motor that can be operated from the ground using a remote control. Lakshya had been designed by Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bangalore. Lakshya is a reusable subsonic high launch surface / spacecraft aerial target system, remotely piloted from ground. Provides training to the cannons and missile crew and air defense pilots for weapons combat.
