There are so many times when developers tear away at their hair in frustration because they do not have the answer to a small little problem, or do not have access to a tiny tool. They may need to use a minor functionality of a particular tool or language, but to use it they have to acquaint themselves with it and, most often; they have to start from scratch. Most developers would not want such minor issues to cause major distractions. They would be most grateful and happy if ‘someone’ satisfactorily solved such minor problems for them in a reasonable amount of time..
Codejunction.com tries to address all these requirements and more by being a unifying node for information interchange among open source developers. It provides facilities for members to post code requests, solicit volunteers to work on their request, interact among each other through message-boards, as also get involved in some interesting projects already posted on the site.
In the background is the management of codejunction.com comprising a four-tier hierarchy with increasing levels of power and responsibility. They are user, reviewer, manager and administrator in order of increasing authority.
At the lowest level is the user of the system who interacts with the system through the Internet. This user is not a part of the management and starts by registering with the system online. After this he is permitted to post his project details, code requirements, technical queries, etc on to the website. He may also download the tools and resources listed on the site.
All code passing through the site goes into the repository for further use. Anyone requesting for a code is first directed to this collection of tools to check if someone has already provided a solution to the problem.
