Trade in derivatives was introduced in India in 2000 in NSE and BSE. Since its launch derivative securities have penetrated the Indian stock market and it has emerged that investors are using these securities for different purposes, namely risk management, profit enhancement, speculation and arbitrage. People with high net worth and owner traders account for a large proportion of the turnover of brokers. The study has conducted a survey through a structured questionnaire aimed at 100 Delhi / New Delhi, NCR retail investors to understand the awareness and attractiveness of different derivative securities among retail investors. The study also seeks to understand the profile of retail investors dealing in derivatives trading, to understand the different purposes for which investors are using these securities in order of preference, the popularity of a certain value derived from the total set And reasons not to invest for Some investors. The study uses the chi square test to examine the effect of demographic characteristics on the derived investment. The study concludes that education, profession and gender do not affect the behavior derived from the investment, however, the income has a significant effect on the investment derived. A more advanced study proposes to popularize options instruments because they may prove to be a useful means to improve retail participation in the derivatives market.
