Induction Furnace
An induction furnace is an electrical furnace in which the heat is applied by induction heating of metal.
A preheated, 1-tonne furnace melting iron can melt cold charge to tapping readiness within an hour. Power supplies range from 10 kW to 15 MW, with melt sizes of 20 kg to 30 tonne of metal respectively.
Induction furnace are used to melt iron, steel, copper, cast-iron, aluminium and precious metals.

As no arc or combustion is used, the temperature of the material is no higher than required to melt it
An operating induction furnace usually emits a hum or whine (due to fluctuating magnetic forces and magnetostriction)
the pitch of which can be used by operators to identify whether the furnace is operating correctly or at what power level.
Sand Mixer Muller
Sand mullers are used in the preparation of sand for making moulds.
Ordinary silica sand is mixed with various materials to increase it’s binding capacity
Different types of sands used in mould making are:
Green sand
Greensand is composed of naturally occurring materials which are blended together; high quality silica sand (85-95%), bentonite clay (4-10%) as a binder, a carbonaceous additive (2-10%) to improve the casting surface finish and water (2-5%). Green sand is the most commonly used recycled foundry sand for beneficial reuse. It is black in colour, due to carbon content and adheres together due to clay and water.
Cope and Drag
In foundry work, the terms cope and drag refer respectively to the upper and lower parts of a two-part casting flask, used in sand casting.
The pattern is placed in this assembly along with Green sand with chalk powder sprinkled over it.
An arrangement is made for the entry of molten metal into the mould cavity by placing the sprue pin.
