An industrial safety system is a crucial countermeasure in any hazardous plant like oil and gas plants and nuclear plants. They are used to protect human, industrial and environmental plants in case the process goes beyond the allowed control margins. As its name suggests, these systems are not intended to control the process itself, but rather protection. Process control is performed by means of process control systems (PCS) and is interconnected by security systems so that immediate action is taken in case of failure of process control systems. Process and safety control systems are usually combined under a single system called the Integrated Control and Security System (ICSS). Industrial safety systems typically use dedicated systems that are certified by SIL 2 as a minimum; While control systems can begin with SIL 1. SIL applies to hardware and software requirements such as cards, processor redundancy and voting functions.
Need for security:
In view of the above discussion, the need and concern for security is therefore need of the hour. There are some direct costs / effects of an accident but there are certain indirect costs involved in it too by example. The ideal time for the close team and the created horror among the workers, the loss of time, etc. In compensation for the cost of aid, legal implications and allied costs, etc. Therefore, the security measures would not only eliminate / avoid the previous cost, but would also imply their moral responsibility towards the workers / operators.
An accident is by virtue of an unsafe factor resulting from an unsafe condition can be the combined effect of two. An unsafe result results in the form of operator / people doing the thing without proper authority, misuse of safety devices, ignoring warnings and precautions, etc.
An unsafe condition may be present in various forms, Failure or defect of electrical accessories, improper maintenance of the gang. Use of defective tools etc. To prevent the occurrence of accidents, unsafe acts have to be avoided / eliminated or verified.
