Ans : Oliver Hart (UK). Bengt Holmstrom (Finland)

Ans : Angus Deaton (Scotland)
*The only woman received the nobel prize in Economics 
Ans : Elinor Ostrum (America, 2009)
*The nobel prize for Economics was instituted by RIKS bank of Sweden in 1968.

Amarthya Sen
*Amarthya Kumar Sen is,an Indian Economist and Philosopher.
*First Asian and Indian Nobel laureate in Economics SenAmarthya Sen (1998) 
*Received Bharat Ratna in the year 1999.
*Founder Chancellor of revived Nalanda University.
PLANNING IN INDIA

*National Planning Committee was set up in 1938 under the Chairmanship of Jawaharlal Nehru (committee consisted of 15 members). 
*The recommendations of National Planning Committee could not be implemented because of the outbreak of second world war.
*The second plan for economic development was ‘Bombay plan’ which was introduced by 8 leading industrialists in Bombay (1944) under the leadership of Ardheshir Dalai. Other industrialists behind the plan were J.R.D. Tata, G.D. Birla, Purushotham Das Thakur Das, A.D. Shroff, John Mathai, Kasthurbai lal bai and Sreeram. (FICCI was founded by G.D. Birla and Purushotham Das Thakurdas in 1927)
*‘Bombay plan’ putforward a set of proposals for the development of post independent economy of India.
*In 1944 another economic plan ‘Gandhian plan’ was putforward by Shri Narayan Agarwal.
*Gandhian Economics is a school of thought based on the socio-economic principles expounded by Mahatma Gandhi.
*The term 'Gandhian Economics’ was coined by J.C. Kumarappa, a close supporter of Gandhiji.
*M.N. Roy, another world famous economist, formulated 'peoples plan’ in 1945.
*Sarvodaya plan was given by Jayaprakash Narayan in 1950.
*The propounder of the term ‘Hindu rate of growth’
Ans : Raj Krishna
*The economic and social planning is included in the concurrent list of Indian Constitution. 


Father of Indian Planning
*The first attempt to initiate economic planning in India was made by M. Visveswarayya through his book 'Planned Economy for India' (published in 1934)
*M. Visveswarayya is popularly known as the  father of Indian planning and Father of Indian Engineering.
*Engineer’s day is celebrated on September 15 (Birthday of Visveswarayya)
