*The Chairman and members of the Public Service Commissions are appointed under Article 316 of the Indian Constitution.
*The Chairman and members of the Union Public Service Commission and Joint State Public Service Commissions are appointed and removed by the President.
*The chairman and members of the State Public Service Commissions are appointed by the Governor of the State, but they are removed only by the President.
*The chairman and members of the Union Public Service Commission, State Public Service Commissions and Joint State Public Service Commissions shall only be removed by the President on the ground of misbehaviour after an inquiry made by the Supreme Court on a reference by the President.
