Zero Hour
*Zero hour is an Indian innovation and has been in existence since 1962.
*Zero hour is an informal device available to the MPs to raise matters without any prior notice.
*It is not mentioned in the Rules of Procedure.
*Zero Hour starts immediately after the question hour and lasts until the agenda for the day is taken up. Usually it is from 12 pm to 1 pm 

NO CONFIDENCE MOTION
*No-Confidence motion can be introduced only in the Lok Sabha.
*No-confidence motion .can be introduced only against the council of ministers and not against any individual minister. It is introduced by the opposition party.
*If the no-confidence motion is passed in the Lok Sabha the Council of Ministers has to resign.


CENSURE MOTION
*This motion can be moved only in the Lok Sabha and by the opposition 
*It is moved for censuring the council of ministers for specific policies and actions 
*It can be moved against individual ministers group of ministers or the entire council of Ministers
*No leave of the House is required for moving a censure motion but it must specify the charges against the Government for which it is moved.
*Even if it is passed in the Lok Sabha , the council of ministers need not resign from office.

CALLING ATTENTION MOTION

*It is introduced by a member of the Lok Sabha to call the attention of a minister to a matter of urgent public importance and to seek an authoritative statement from him.
*It is an Indian innovation and has been in existence since 1954 .
*It is mentioned in the Rules of Procedure.
*There is no Calling Attention motion in the Rajya Sabha. Instead there exists a motion called “Motion of Papers”

PRIVILEGE MOTION
*It is moved by a member when a minister has committed a breach of privilege of the House by withholding facts and information or by giving wrong information

ADJOURNMENT MOTION
*It is introduced in the Lok Sabha to draw the attention of the House to a definite matter of urgent Public importance.
*It needs the support of 50 members to be admitted.
*It is an extra ordinary device as it interrupts the normal business of the House.
*It is not permitted in the Rajya Sabha as it involves an element of censure against the government.

MOTION OF THANKS
*Whenever the President addresses the Parliament, his speech is discussed in both  the Houses on a motion called ‘Motion of Thanks’.
*This motion must be passed in the House, otherwise it will be the defeat of the Government.

PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES
*Parliament has to perform complex and enormous quantity of work. Due to the paucity of time, the initial work in the Legislature is done by the committees.
*Parliamentary Committees excercise effective control over government activity on a regular basis.
*Parliamentary committees are classified as standing committees and adhoc committees. Standing committees are permanent in nature while adhoc committees are constituted for specific purposes and they cease to exist after completion of the specific work.
*The three financial committees of Parliament are
(1)Public Accounts Committee
(2)Estimates Committee
(3)Committee on Public Undertaking
