PARLIAMENT
*The term ‘Parliament’ is originated from the French word ‘Parler’ which means to discuss.
*Parliament is the highest law making body in India, which is constituted under Article 79 of the Indian Constitution.
*Constitution of India is the source of Power of Parliament.
*Parliament consists of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and the President of India. However he is not a member of either House of Parliament.
*Lok Sabha or House of the people is the lower House. Rajya Sabha or Council of States is the Upper House. Thus we have a bicameral legislature at the Centre.
*Parliament building (Sansad Bhavan) is situated at New Delhi which was designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker in 1912.
*First solar powered parliament in the world
