*To give equality of representation in terms of population among the states, the value of votes of MLAs and MPs in the Presidential Election is decided by a formula
Value of the vote of an MLA=Total population of the state/Total number of elected members in the state legislative assembly*1/1000
Value of the vote of an MP=Total value of votes of all MLAs of all states/Total number of elected members of Parliament
*A candidate, to be elected as the President must secure a fixed quota. ie = Total number of valid votes polled/2 +1 Thus he must receive more than 50% of the valid votes polled.
*He addresses both the Houses of Parliament at the commencement of the first session of the Comptroller and Auditor General, the each year and the first session after each general election.
*He lays before the Parliament, the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General,the Union Public Service Commission, The Finance Commission and. others
Pardoning Power of the President and Governors
*The President can grant pardon, to a convicted person, under Article 72 of the constitution in all cases where the punishment or the sentence is for an offence against a Union Law.
*The President can pardon death sentence but the Governor cannot.
*The Governor can grant pardon under Article 161 of the constitution, in all cases related to a state law.
*The President can pardon a punishment or a sentence by court martial but the Governor cannot.
