The topic is related to improving end-user experience for web browsing services in the HSDPA scheduler.

I wanted to ask some questions related to it.

The basic idea is to identify web browsing applications in the WRAN from their traffic characteristics, define the user requirements for them and then basically optimizing the application in order to improve the scheduling algorithm in hsdpa.
For the web browsing services, the characteristics I have taken into account are, i.e. with these characteristics we would be able to identify web browsing services. These are:
1) Identification of GET message on HTTP port 80
2) Multiple TCP flows
3) Short flow duration (normally around 6 sec)

With these characteristics, there is a higher probability to identify a web service.

1) Can anyone think of any other characteristics that can be used to identify web browsing services in WCDMA RAN?

Further, after the identification, I defined what factors to improve for web services, which are: Latency/RTT, web throughput, faster response time.

And then now comes the improvement in the scheduler algorithm, I mean, how to improve web services and give priority to them over other services (eg. video streaming, P2P etc.) for an initial period of time. So basically in the scheduler we have some factors already present in the Queue Selection part of the algorithm, namely, CQI, Scheduling weight, Min. rate, Average rate and re-transmission (the scheduler is Proportional Fair)

So the basic idea is to add more factors to the already present ones for giving a higher probability that web users will be served over other users.

So, the first idea came to my mind was to prioritize the web users (after identification,obviously) for a certain period of time (say, 1 sec.) during the initial ramp up, second one was to give a higher priority to web users in every TTI.

2) What are the comments on the proposed ideas and can anyone give me more ideas to improve our scheduler algorithm?
