Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) is a Wi-Fi-like, high-speed, two-way wireless communication technology. The term was coined by Harald Haas and is a form of visible light communication and a subset of wireless optical communications (OWC) and could be a complement to RF communication (Wi-Fi or cellular networks), or even a replacement in contexts Of data Infrared and ultraviolet radiation instead of radio frequency spectrum, part of the optical wireless communications technology, which carries much more information and has been proposed as a solution to RF bandwidth limitations.
Light Fidelity is a technology that has received attention in recent years due to its ability to achieve high multiplexing by combining many data sources and transmitting its data through wireless means. This network technology allows the propagation of data through illumination by the use of light emitting diodes, which are received by the photo-detectors located in the target devices. These diodes vary in intensity of light faster than the human eye can track. They are normally equipped with a circuit that modulates light imperceptibly for optical data transmission. The Li-Fi data is transmitted by the LEDs on the transmitter and received by photo-receptors on the destination side. In this type of communication, when the LED is on, the data transmitted is digital. On the other hand, when the LED is off, a digital 0 is transmitted. It is possible to encode data in light by varying the speed at which light-emitting diode bulbs flash and turn off to give strings other than 1s and 0s. Since the intensity of the LED modulates so rapidly that the human eye can not recognize, it causes the output to appear invariably to an observer. In this document, this technology was simulated to demonstrate how it can be used in a different perspective: to improve network security in wireless hotspot.
