In this competitive and tight world, the human can not waste more time to perform their daily activities manually. This project is an independent PC based power management system for hotels that uses the AT89S52 microcontroller. This project is useful in all applications where automation of household appliances is required. The use of embedded technology makes this closed-loop feedback control system efficient and reliable. The microcontroller (AT89S52) allows dynamic and faster control. The AT89S52 microcontroller is the heart of the circuit because it controls all functions.
The main objective of this project is to control the electrical appliances and to save energy by means of a PC that uses the hiper terminal window of the PC. The person sitting at the desk can continuously monitor the loads being operated in the rooms and can disconnect them where it is not necessary simply by sitting in front of your PC. TRIAC performs cargo control. The main advantage of using a TRIAC to vary the state of loads is that the TRIAC reduces the flow of energy to the loads and the TRIAC works very well for alternating currents.
In order to control electrical equipment via the PC, data transfer between the PC and the 8051 system must be ensured. Serial data communication uses a single data line which makes it not only cheaper, but also allows that two computers located in two different cities are communicated by telephone.
There are special IC chips manufactured by many manufacturers for serial data communication. These chips are generally referred to as USART (Universal Asynchronous Synchronous Receiver-Transmitter) and UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Asynchronous Transmitter). The 8051 chip has a built-in UART, that is, it has an integrated serial port that allows reading and writing values on the serial port very easily.
