Avatar Technology
Originally the term avatar came from Hindu mythology and is the name for the temporary body a god inhabits while visiting Earth. Also also represents an embodiment or concrete manifestation of an abstract concept. Avatar in the broadest sense, represents one party in an
interactive exchange.Avatar is your body double in Cyberspace, your presence in the virtual communities growing inside two and three dimensional virtual worlds online. The avatar almost always operates as an
agent of the e-Learning application, and
generally simulates human activity.
An avatar functions as a communication interface linking a user with the
information the user needs. It is neither a video demonstration nor a cartoon sample. It
responds to the usersâ„¢ requests and
provides rapid page link to an information database , all these in the most understandable manner.. It is Unlike virtual reality technology, 2D and 3D virtual worlds require no special gloves, visors or hardware gear.
Microsoftâ„¢s much-maligned Clippit,
is the the Help avatar. but significantly different.
Working
The user inputs a question or a query. Once the userâ„¢s input is complete, the workflow engine processes it and retrieves the correct answer from a knowledge database. avatar work within specific knowledge base but to make it as a talking search engine is difficult.
The machine then translates the
response into the appropriate code
before adding the animation and lip syn-chronization to the avatar.ext-to-speech software gives interactive answerability to avatar.
The ways avatar technology helps us
-Avatar technology is much better than Video Conferencing
-It works well with Intranets that do not support Video Conferencing traffic
-can prevent information bottlenecks due to personality clashes
-Can connect global offices and allow all employees to instantly connect to company data and archives.
-can express emotion through facial expressions and body posture
