HDFC Bank (Housing Development Finance Corporation) is an Indian banking and financial company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It has 90,421 employees and has a presence in Bahrain, Hong Kong and Dubai. HDFC Bank is India's second largest privately owned asset lender. History

In 1994, HDFC Bank based in Mumbai, India, was created. Its first corporate office and a full-service branch at Sandoz House, Worli was inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Manmohan Singh. As of December 31, 2016, the Bank's distribution network was located at 4,555 branches and 12,087 ATMs in 2,597 cities.

Market leader in e-commerce, HDFC Bank offers a number of digital offerings such as - 10-second personal loan, Chillr, PayZapp, SME Bank, Watch Banking, 30-minute auto loan, 15-minute two-wheel loan, gateways Electronic payment, digital wallet, etc.
HDFC Bank offers a number of products and services that includes wholesale banking, retail banking, treasury, auto loans, two Wheeler loans, personal loans, property loans and credit cards. The last entry in the league is 'Project AI', under which HDFC Bank, in the coming weeks, would deploy robots in select bank branches. These robots will offer options such as cash withdrawal or deposit, forex, fixed deposits and demat services that are displayed on the screen to people entering the branch.

Acquisitions

HDFC Bank merged with Times Bank in February 2000. This was the first merger of two private banks in the New Generation Private Sector category. In 2008, Banco Centurión was acquired by Banco HDFC. HDFC Bank Board approved the acquisition of CBoP for INR 95.1 billion in one of the largest mergers in the financial sector in India.
