The small-scale industrial sector has emerged as a dynamic and vibrant sector of the economy during the 1980s. At the end of the Seventh Plan, it accounted for almost 35 percent of the gross value of production in the manufacturing sector and more than 40 percent of the country's total exports. It also provided employment opportunities to about 12 million people. Government policies for the development and promotion of small-scale industries in India.
In India, small businesses have been given an important place for both ideological and economic reasons. It is well documented that small industries play an important role in the development of the country. It contributes almost 40% of the gross industrial value added in the Indian economy. The focus and intention of the Government towards industries in general and SSI in particular are revealed in the Industrial Policy Resolutions. There are many government policies for the development and promotion of small-scale industries in India. These are mentioned below:
