GOTAN LIME STONE PRODUCTS:

- There are four products of GSLis as follows:-
1. Quick lime
2. Hydrated lime
3. High chemical grade lime
4. Lime stone

• Quick lime:- Quicklime, more formally known as calcium oxide (CaO), is a caustic alkaline substance which is produced by heating limestone in specially designed kilns. There are a wide range of uses for quick lime, ranging from mortar to flux, and the substance has been used by humans for centuries. Many companies produce & sell quicklime, sometimes with specific chemical impurities, which make it especially suitable to certain applications.

• Hydrated lime: - Hydrated lime (Calcium hydroxide or slaked lime) is usually a dry powder resulting from the controlled slaking of quicklime with water. The exothermic or released keat of reaction is captured and used to evaporate the excess slaking water. For “Slurry lime” excess water is not evaporated and the hydrate remains as a water suspensions.

• Super high grade chemical lime:- The super chemical grade lime stone CaCO3 + 93% is ideal for lime production in vertical shaft & rotary kilns, as a reagent in desulphurization, and other chemical/industrial uses. Typical specification of super chemical grade limestone is as follows:

CaCO3 +94%
SiO2 1.25
MgO 1.2
Al2O3 0.41
Fe2O3 0.12

• Lime Stone: - Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate). The primary source of this calcite is usually marine organisms. These organisms secrete shells that settle out of the water column and are deposited on ocean floors as pelagic ooze (see lysocline for information on calcite dissolution). Secondary calcite may also be deposited by supersaturated meteoric waters (groundwater that precipitates the material in caves). This produces speleothems such as stalagmites and stalactites. Limestone makes up approximately 10 percent of the total volume of all sedimentary rocks.

Pure limestones are white or almost white. Because of impurities, such as clay, sand, organic remains, iron oxide and other materials, many limestones exhibit different colors, especially on weathered surfaces. Limestone may be crystalline, clastic, granular, or dense, depending on the method of formation.
