After months of rumours about its acquisition by Snapdeal online marketplace, the logistics player GoJavas has found a better deal for himself. Pigeon Express, based in Bengaluru, has acquired Gojavas based in Gurgaon, Business World reported. The report stated that "most of GoJavas' employees have been asked to leave and the company will close all operations in a timely manner." It was also reported that Track on Couriers, based in Delhi, had been in talks with GoJavas earlier. Goyavas was initially the in-house logistics service provider for online fashion distributor Jabong. In 2013, GoJavas separated from Jabong as an independent third-party logistics firm.
In 2015, the online market Snapdeal acquired an estimated 42% stake in GoJavas in two stages. Snapdeal first invested in GoJavas in March last year. He had not disclosed the amount of the investment, which was reported to be around Rs 120 crore, but had said he collected a minority stake in the logistics company. Later in the year, it invested $ 20 million (Rs 131 crore then) plus in the logistics firm. GoJavas's problems have multiplied in recent months following the loss of its two largest customers: the fashion portal Jabong and online retailer Snapdeal. Jabong was recently acquired by the biggest rival Myntra. Flipkart, the father of Myntra, has an internal logistics arm called e-Kart.
